sat here at the blackberry world conference in florida and theyve just handed out 6000 free playbooks.

i was very sceptical of these devices by looking at the specs but half an hour in and i think the corporate world now has its own proper tablet.

blackberry backend for corporate stuff and android compatibility for the fun stuff.

this thing rocks.

Doesn't that depend how locked down it is though - assume they can be locked down like the phones - my employed doesn't let us download any phone apps and as the web goes via our corporate servers that's pretty tied down as well.

two separate environments... corporate stuff is zoned off whilst apps and toys are unable to get to corporate data. seems to be rather well thought out.

Is it true to get your e mail on the tablet it has to be tethered to your blackberry phone by bluetooth? If so I'm not sure the corporate world does have its first tablet. Would be very interested to know your comments as we thinking of switching to i phones and i pads now apple are developing security that satisfies corporate standards

cheers
Ian

Also read that due to a recent acquisition yesterday by RIM that BES is being developed to support and manage Apple iOS and Android devices. Sounds like a good move, any news on that out there?

Only stories I've read have said availability to be 'later this year'
