Drove down to South Wales last week and on the way saw 47mpg after the first 200 miles. After 1350 miles of mainly motorway with the rest urban trips the average ended up at just over 45 mpg. Very pleased as my day to day driving gives me just 35 mpg.:D

Similar to what I got in my W203 220CDI, very well done!!

It's good to see that you too are finding that long journeys really make a difference to mpg figures.
Both my cars have similar (not quite the same) engines to yours, but are very different cars. The ML, used mostly for comuting to the city (total of 18 miles a day) is reading 30.5mpg for the last 4k miles.
The CLS which is used mainly for long runs is reading 46mpg over a similar distance.
Same engine, differnt cars, drivers and usage.;)
