After years of 'middle of the road' company cars I now need to buy my own - being made redundant in August. I've always liked Mercedes so I thought, why not - provide my own 'silver lining'?! Some people have questioned my decision in view of situation, but Mercedes seem to go on for ever if looked after, so ownership/running costs need not be as high as most would think.

It's obviously going to be an older model; an estate (two dogs), and ideally diesel for economy. So I'm thinking a W/S124 250D/TD, early 90's with not too stellar mileage!

Grateful for any 'steers' to a likely purchase, or any advice on the most sensible way to join the club!

I am about to sell the Wifes 2000 C220 CDI Estate Auto with a full service history, all at Mercedes exept the last two which were done by an independant The only thing that may put you off is the "Stellar Mileage" 230,000 and still going strong.

Thanks, yes would like further details. Mileage doesn't really frighten me as I hear that 500k miles is not unusual for these motors.
