Range Rover sport,C63 AMG
I have owned my C63 for about 2 weeks and the boot spoiler has started to lift on the front edge, its probably 60% of it and has a 6mm gap between the boot lid and spoiler,im taking it in on monday .
On further examination it is stuck down with those double sided number plate stickers,it reminds of my MK2 escort which had a similar cheep aftermarket spoiler on,which i owned in the 80's.
Im sure they will bond it down better but i have to say that im far from impressed by the method of attatching it,anyone else had a similar issue ?

That is pathetic. I really feel for you.
Which plonker in AMG thought that it was acceptable to fix a spoiler in that manner to an AMG..
I have oft seen it posted that MB "personnel" read the forum for rapid feedback on their cars.
Well let’s hope they read this one and recall all AMGs for appropriate and professional fixes.
As my Dad would have said that is the "giddy limit"
I'm sure you will be having "a word"

Most spoilers, lips etc. are stuck down with double sided tape.
Just occasionally it doesn't stick as it should.

I would just pull it off and stick back down myself.

Well if it was me. I would be wanting my pounds worth of flesh on a car costing that much and being so new.

Not sure that I'd prefer something screwed into the metal as an alternative to a sticky fix. Potential rust problem.

its prob been stuck using 3M VHD . google it , its basically aircraft grade double sided tape for sticking down areas that were hard to rivet.

Might just not have taken properly...

I weigh it up...

Take a morning off work, go to dealer, book car in, take it back, get it sorted and then drive home having wasted a day.

Vs...

Walk to drive in the morning, pull it off and stick back down, sorted in around 4 mins.

The latter wins for me. :D

Which could well explain why its come off now?

Huh?
Tape can go off, it really is as simple as that, just a bit of bad luck.

Far easier to just sort yourself imho.

I get what you're saying, but I would go in there, get the usual nonchalant response that seems to go hand in hand with any dealer visit and it would not only piss me off for the day but also make me get just that little bit annoyed with the car, well not annoyed but take the shine off it slightly.
That is why I would just sort it myself. If I knew they would be gutted for me and sort it in the proper manner I would be straight in there, however we all know that just won't be the case. :(

Put like that g1zzE your way would be best.

I do hold out some hope that stealers are changing.

Ooops whats that noise. Pigs - Squadrons of 'em right out side my window, just doing an inverted fly by!!

I'm actually agree with Gizze's theory...If I can fix something myself cheaply then I'd rather do that than take it to a dealer.

It saves time, it saves having to explain an issue and having someone look back at you like you're a freak (OK, I am...but that's not the point) and it means the job will be done right! Oh, it also means there is no risk of getting the car back in worse condition or with more faults than it went in with!

For instance, if I have a rattle I will always have a bash at it first - removing interior trim without breaking it and putting it back has become a speciality of mine - and if I can't fix it then it goes to the dealer.

In the case of the OP's specific issue though...given the specialist fixing needed and if he doesn't have it to hand then it may be easier to just take it to the dealer.

How terrible - you must feel so bad about the AMG all of a sudden! Assuming it is under warranty I would throw it at the dealer with a huge amount of disgust on quality. Totally unacceptable in my view. You could DIY as many suggest, and I do stuff DIY as well but on a lovely car like this if it is under warranty then get them to do it.

Get it back to the dealer asap,no excuse when laying out the sort of money an c63 amg costs:mad:

Had the same problem with the E63 spoiler (genuine), the 3M tape is the mb prefferred method! you can bond it down tho if you want and it will NEVER come off in one peice.

btw, its a pig to get off the remaining tape, your looking at at least half hour to remove the spoiler and the remaining sticky pads off the bodywork and spoiler, then apply new 3m tape and re-apply (straight, helps having a mate to help, someone used to cars). if it goes on wonky, then you start the whole procedure again!
you may need a heat gun and a credit card to help remove the rest.

I expect the op appreciates your help Alps but why should he spend time sorting out a problem on what is an almost new car?,i would get it back to mb & insist they put it right.
