I found this little tool in my tool box after a clean out . To make room for other items .
This was one of the first tool i ever owned , back in 1948 .And i must say this tool helped me as i gained DSC04484.JPG knowledge,in the right and wrong way of removing nuts, and bolts, of all sizes . So i thank my Dad for getting me this kit for my birthday sio long ago . Can you guess just what it was ?.

Spanner for your bike that was supposed to fit all ,looks like it did not get much use, those penny farthings were built to last.

For those that got it right ,yes, it is a spanner for the Meccano set . Our local iron mongers would have this large Meccano layout in the front of the main window. It consisted of cranes, air port with planes, cars, lorries ,allmade from Meccano . Out of this world for a child just after the war, when
nothing was avaliable for the home never mind childrens toys. But i had one . I think maybe a number 6 set .My father and i built a crane from the Maccano set with the help of this tool and a screw driver . And this Meccano set, i think was why i went in to engineering .

Somewhere, I also have the little metal screwdriver that went with the spanner.
