Hi everyone, my name is Mark, been buying Merc’s for many years, when times were good from showrooms alas age and a medical condition did force my life in a different direction, a year off, lost my business, divorce, lived in a car for three months till I got some help.... anyway back on my feet, started a company again and whilst not earning what I used too, this whole experience taught me many things, I’m happy for the first time in my life, live life differently and value things I didn’t think about before.... one of those is my w208 Mercedes 320 clk cab, it was the first car I bought from a showroom in my younger years in 2000, I remember the feeling of picking the keys up from the sale man at Mercedes Benz Swindon and that drive back to Bristol, I felt a million dollars...... fast forward to now, I’ve bought a carbon copy car, it had no MOT, it was a gamble, there was the stuff I could see, turns out stuff I didn’t see too, anyway I’m in now, it will be back to former glory if it kills me, I don’t care about car values which it seems nobody can understand.... it’s about that feeling back in 2000, this car gives that to me. Anyway, I’ve got it through its MOT but the issues don’t end there and are ongoing....
So far it’s been serviced too, new pads, boot lock fixed which wouldn’t shut, then the original AMGs have been bought luckily with nearly new Pirelli’s on them, a new AMG style front grill, passenger seat, boot cover.... I’m struggling for a multi changer cartridge as that was missing, also needs the oil filter housing doing as has a slight leak, been quoted £200, that will be followed by rear shockers and pads...I need to find a drivers seat too if anyone can help as quoted £400 to fix the two seats and they seem to be cheaper from donor cars... has anyone repaired a small hold under the spare wheel before, is it an easy job?
The rusting arches( common apparently are getting done and a respray too. Then there is the roof, it’s stopped working, Mercedes in their wisdom won’t give me the part number, I’ve tried getting to the motor but not an easy job for a novice, anyone help me find out what motor it is? There are three models apparently...... anyway, I’ve bored you for way too long, just wanted to say hi to the group..I suppose a reach out too, lots to do, not much knowledge but bags of enthusiasm although funds becoming an issue lol

Hiya Hadders, welcome. That's an inspiring story ! I can only wish you the very best, and I'm looking forward to the pics, any "before" ones you can show us now ?

Welcome. Looking forward to the pictures and story. There’s always a few CLKs breaking.

This is the type of thing I enjoy reading. Before & after pics please. Best of luck with your restoration👍👍👍

Hi all tried uploading pics but keep getting the file size is too large, any ideas. Great to get so many messages too, thank you all.
the only one that’s uploaded is the brakes being done doesn’t really reflect the bodywork issues or interior that’s before the hood issue is resolved but it’s going for the bodywork next week and gone for two weeks...

I found the easiest way to make photos small enough to post here is to send them to someone I know in messenger, then I re download them and they work.

Hi Mark and welcome looking forward to see how you get on 👍

To reduce file size, try this. Hit "upload file" button, select the file you want & it automatically compresses your file, then press" download all" & you can either save as or open. Easy as that:)👍

Well some more pics following tips uploaded, I guess it’s me as still many saying file size too large...aaaaarrrgggghhhh

There is also a great app called COMPRESS, I found it very easy to use to 👍
