I paid the full whack for the phone console and the speaker is good , i have no complaints with it.

A useful addition to the car

The speaker is brilliant - Shude you must stop trying to belive your parts guy - he is always being proven wrong.

This is an entirely different parts guy

He actually seems to be ok! He spent ages looking for some bits and pieces for me and he always knocks a few quid off where possible. My dimming mirror cables came in today (ordered from DE, they go from the RVM to the a pillars and have never been sold in the UK before, that is they have never been in stock in any stealership...). My sun visors come in tomorrow, passenger visor with illuminated vanity mirror and LHD passenger visor with illuminated vanity mirror (there is no driver's visor like that).

Just the first part of a few interior mods. I might get the sculpted phone holder w/ speaker unit & Nokia car kit, as I will be pulling the headlining away in a week or so and it'd be nice to run as many cables as I can through it to avoid repeat operations. Might just buy the car kit and see how I go...

yeah, my parts guys are stupid and according to alot of peeps no matter what country all the parts guys are 'Spoons'

How much were the vanity mirros? and how are they connected?

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

The visors are £48+vat each (I got the pair for £100 inclusive) and I have no idea how they're connected, but I'm sure it will become clear when I pull the headlining back etc. What a touch of class Remember to give them your interior code (or chassis no.) when ordering so they'll match the interior.

For power I reckon they'll have a tiny lead and plug hanging off the hinge on the inside (like the RVM), which will plug into the dome light or somewhere. I'm sure I can find somewhere to power them up.

You can expect pics of any work I do of course

Um, didnt look at it too well, just glanced as i stacked then box load of stereos, alarms and accessories.

In one box was a panel(black with a grille piece for a speaker, underneath was another panel with no speaker in it
then underneath was a spealer which i presumed went with the panel with the grill.

I didnt see a phone holder and the rest of the kit, but you could buy that from the stealership and the other bits from us, still saving a couple of bob...

We do mail order anyway...

K, what should i look for the differences in airbag, non airbag panels??

Thanks

IF you want a good parts guy, the only real good one i know, is Dave at bradshaw and webb's he knows his stuff, and does us big favours with all their obsolete stock...

@ V12 tell me the part number and I'll tell you if it is airbag or not.

my phone rang this morning on the way to work and it was in my coat pocket, it took me a couple of seconds to find it and when I finally had it in my hand it stopped ringing.

I *need* a handsfree kit in my car now...

I get about 20 calls on my mobile a day so I really needed this.

before my hands free kit I used to always miss the call as I used to have my music on full wack - even with the phone on vibrate I still wouldn't feel it because of the bass! Now my tunes just get muted and the phone rings and it's all voice activated - never miss a call again!

no fumbling with wire hands free or chargers ever again!

Nick: I'm amazed.....with all that disposable income you (and K) seem to have I'd expected you to have one sorted a long time ago LOL

Should add that it looks like good weather for the weekend so I'll make every effort to get my kit in and working. Would be nice to get a console from V12 soon-ish too.

Im doing my very best guys, but this week has been the busiest ever!!

If you go to www.mercman.net and fill out a parts enquiry form, it will be sent to me at work, so i will have a constant reminder all day!!

Also, if anyone wants anything else, this is the best way, as it goes directly to me, and no-one else deals with e-mails at all.

Finally got my handsfree kit installed and working. Really pleased with end result. Had to search the Blaupunkt website to identify the stereo muting wire but other than that it was fairly easy. Thanks to Koolvin and co. for info etc.

Edit: too much beer , meant to say - the standard "Nokia" speaker is plenty loud enough, although looks a bit naff. Will replace it with a lead to plum sound through the stereo speakers.

hands free baby!!!!

bump for Wheelie as he asked about these at the GTG

I have the Nokia hands free kit, it is wired into the Blaupunkt head unit to mute the radio when using the phone, which is very clever and useful.

Do any of you know if it is possible, to wire the hands free kit into the cars stereo speakers, so I can do away with the Nokia speaker in the footwell?

A friend has the same hands free kit in his Voyager and that works through the cars front speakers. I am not sure how it is wired up but the sound quality is better than the Nokia speaker.

Anybody done this or knows how to do it?

Theoretically it can be done, but you will want a switching device such as a relay or a simpler way a DPDT switch and just wire the pseakers to the switch the to the 2 different outputs.
