fitting a comand ntg 2.5 in a w203 c-class...

hi I´ve read with interest how to retrofit a NTG 2.5 unit into a c-class. I´ve bought a comand NTG 2.5 unit on Ebay but unfortunately when I received it it turns out to be for a R-class MB part number A 251 870 54 94. However the unit itself appears to be identical with the exact same connecting ports/slots as the unit meant for a c-class (A 203 870 xx 94). The only difference is the aluminum frame and plastic cover panel along with the operating buttons (mine are square shaped and c-class are round shaped, but they have the exact same functions and are placed identically, it appears)

so here it goes, is it possible to replace the aluminium frame and plastic cover panel along with buttons to converting it to a c-class unit? and if so where can I order these parts? Another option is of course to alter the aluminum frame and plastic cover (laser cutting?) to a snug fit in the c-class console. Also can I use the installing plastic slot frame meant for c-class?

I guess these questions are best suited for Chris but anyone with a helping answer is very welcomed.

anyway I´m new to the forum and have a W203 c-class C200 kompressor from 2001/2 which I´m very happy with. Right now I´m pimping it and a NTG 2.5 unit is a must

If the seller wrongly advertised it as a c-class unit send it back. If it wasnt wrongle advertised it would just be easier to sell the unit on and get the correct one rather than start cutting it up.

hi and thanks for trying to help out. I´m awaiting a response from Paypal as to if it´s possible to return the unit. The seller advertised as a new comand NTG 2.5, but didn´t specify to which model it was suited. I sent a message to the seller brfore placing a bid and asked if it would fit a c-class W203 2004-2007 and he assured me that it would. I´m not certain whether or not paypal will use this message in their ruling, but i´m crossing my fingers. But chances are that i´m stuck with the unit, and thats why i´m looking at my options.

selling it again is of course an option, but time consuming, so if it is at all possible to modify it to fit my car i think thats the way I wannna go

You really ouht to send it back and get the correct unit as cutting this will just ruin it. The mountings are different in any case. Swapping the front is easy but getting a new front is not so easy. Read nigh on impossible.

As already mentioned you will have a lot of work to do to retrofit this to a pre facelifted W203.

As it happens I have a brand new W203 NTG 2.5 with DVD changer thats going into a facelifted W203 on Wednesday and an SLK NTG 2.5 unit going into a forum members car the same day.
