Yes I know it sounds silly!

But, one of my front headlamp bulbs has gone. I haven't got a Haynes Manual to help me and wondered is it easy enough to change?

I had a peek and there looks like 2 black things that look like they would twist out but not sure if and how to go about it?

BTW it's a 1996 w202! Cheers!:D

(I have changed bulbs before, but only ever on the back - nice and simple!)

Have you checked the How To's? it might be in there ;)

I've only ever changed the bulbs on mine, front ones, but it was easy enough once Brian showed me how :o :D

As you've only had the car a few days - I'd take it back and make them do it for you ;)

Hi gina2201

From within the engine compartment release the clips securing the light unit cover in place, then tip the cover to the rear and remove it.early models have one-piece cover that fits over the main and dipped beam bulb access points;later models have two separate-the main beam bulb is behind the inner cover.
carefully pull off the wiring connector from the relevant bulb.
release the bulb retaining clip by squeezing the clip arm together and swinging downwards then withdraw the bulb.

Good luck

I looked in the How To section but didn't see anything specific to headlamps.
Where I got the car from is over 50 miles away so bit far to pop back! I don't mind doing it, but don't want to undo the wrong thing!

How many MBclub modders does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer 10. One to change the lightbulb, 9 to explain how they preferred the old lightbulb, their lightbulb was cheaper/better/whiter, why did you not spent £1500 and fit bi xenons;)

I've got to this stage, but not sure which one I need to change ! Argh! It's hard to see in daylight which one is not working. Also, not sure how to carefully remove the wiring connector? Eeeek!

Drivers side on a W202 is a knightmare due to the Airbox, I simply removed mine in order to change the bulb.

Ah dammit! Maybe I'll leave it to the other half (loves fiddling with and fixing cars!)

Why not go to your local garage and flutter your eye lashes?
Would work on me if I worked there:devil:

My contribution:

If they are halogen bulbs, don't touch them with bare fingers - I understand it reduces their lifespan

He he it might well work on the male mechanics (but there's an evil woman secretary who'd probably charge me!!)

I'm firmly of the opinion that changing bulbs is best left to the professionals.

Whenever a bulb blows on mine, I stop at the closest dealership, spend £5 on the bulb and wait a few mins whilst they fit it for me - they never charge for changing bulbs.

Its the way forward. ;)

Not least because of the BIG favour you're doing for me:p :p :p

Take a leaf out of Pammy's book - SHE flutters her eyelashes and males move large objects around the country! :p
