Hi

I am new to the mercedes world after converting from Vauxhall, And have managed to do a few upgrades to my C270 CDi Avantgarde 2002, namely fitting the Bluetooth kit, Clear Lens From a 2005 And A rear Silencer From A C32 the AMG Bodykit & Interior Upgrade is next so i have a question for all you old hands. Is it possible to update the centre console of the prefacelift ie the Switches, Stereo & Climate control to the new 05,06 model. Im thinking of putting in the audio 20 and the full centre section.

your knowledge would be appreciated on this

thanks in advance

It depends on how much you want to spend. It can be done for a price.

Somewhere between insane and ludicrous.

Yes, Miro is correct. It can be done but expensive and painstakingly time consuming. Better buy a facelifted car rather than going through the trouble of converting it.... MOSTifying a D2B W203 means changing most of the controller devices in the car plus many parts, you will lose track after a while....
here is some of the list and I am scratching only the surface
SAM units
ALL OPTICAL FIBRE WIRING
Sound system
Language control unit
UHI phone system
Centre console dash trim parts
Climate control dials
upper control unit (switch row)
Centre rear mirror
Steering wheel
Instrument cluster
Airbag
Speakers
Command or Audio 30
CD changer
Tv tuner
etc....

Yeah thats about it .... nearly finished doing it to my car.

well, since the last post here was 3 years ago, we can talk about a tread resurrection. But here is why I am taking this up again.
I live in Thessaloniki Greece, and at the garage where I usually get my car serviced there is this W203 C200K for sale. Externally it is facelift, although the reg plates make me doupt if it was originally a facelft. The center cosole is facelfit (audio 20 etc) The instrument cluster is pre-facelift. Now, we all know that the pre-facelift instrument cluster is D2B and that it wont work with audio 20

I imagine that the guy actually changed only the center console (switches, audio, clima) sacrificing the steering wheel audio controls, and the audio display in the instrument cluster.

Could this be done without MOST??
If YES, could this be done with a comand (from the facelift of course) instead of the audio20 this guy used?
If it could be done I would prefer it over an aftermarket 2din audio

I hae promised myself, next time I will ask to open the door of this car and turn it on to see how it works.

If the car is manufactured after 2003 it should work fine.

I suspect that the car has no MOST at all. It is just one strange adapter to the old wiring and new facelift parts. Probably works just fine with volume and radio.

Find out any other options it has. does it have phone, CD, voice control.

Then comes another problem. The diagnostic system. It will really hate this car if the old ignition switch was used.
