Hi,

Anyone know of anyone that might be able to help me fit the Origin B2 into an S500 Merc?

Calling around some of the fitters the costs seem high - is it hard to do? I need to fit the external GPS aerial (anyone got any ideas where is best: I have been told glueing it to the outside plastic windscreen window surround, slightly lower than the bonnet line is the optimal place, but another person I spoke to said you could mount it in the plastic tray underneath the bonnet grillls - in fact I saw a very neat job on an SL (new one) today and that is where they had located it)

it also needs the laser detector and (obviously) power.

Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? I am slightly concerned to let someone loose on this who is not familiar with Merc and their electronic nuances!

thanks

Should be simple enough .... Everything is easy enough for someone to do . Maybe its just they have never done one before and don't know how to do it.

Power from the cig lighter circuit , Gps in the middle of the dash or up the back window if youve got heat resist glass on your windscreen and the laser detector just plugs into the cradle as does everything else.

took me about an hour to do on a W211 and a w203 earlier in the year. how much do they want to do it?

around £90 is the quote...

For the amount of messing about with trim pannels , id say that wasnt too bad if you don't fancy it yourself.

I would see if they can mount the GPS aerial up the back window.

Plus if you are having the unit installed its best to go for permanent ignition power rather than the cig lighter as this not only spoils the look but can be prone to jumping out of the socket.

Install is happening this coming week, will post pics.
