It was windy last night….

My precious SL nearly got reshaped by a flying sheet of corrugated iron at 1.00 am this morning.

I heard a loud big and rushed outside to find a sheet of iron in the neighbour’s garden, the width of the pavement from my car!!

Two doors up they are doing a loft conversion and the scaffolding has a “Tin Hat” for weather protection. Well one sheet got ripped off by the wind and my car had a narrow escape:

So close, and yet so far

Lucky escape - although I was actually expecting to see a Ford Trimotor.......

Not like. As you say narrow escape.

A guardian angel by name of Mercedes was 'appen watching over you.

Phew... SL 63 parked next to a watch your speed sign. Works for me!!! :-)

Lucky escape indeed.
Not sure I'm too keen on the mods you've done to your car. I preferred it when it was more....... well.......car shaped.

Oh NO, that bl**dy car salesman at MB Basingstoke...well at least its under warranty…

German marques here ... Ju 52 "Iron Annie" :)

aka "Tante Ju" to the Luftwaffe

Indeed. I managed to see six of them together in Germany a couple of years ago! Four of them arrived in formation, which was quite a sight

I've had a flight in a Lufthansa Heritage one, twice. Both from Goodwood airfield during the Festival of Speed, organised by a German colleague of mine who was Lufthansa's most travelled UK customer.

Three guys in the cockpit really flying, the engineer in the middle constantly re-trimming the plane. I'll see if I can find my photos of it in a box somewhere!

That looks awfully like a gunsight at the bottom of the photo?!?

That sounds fantastic. I've seen one flying along the Thames in central London ... last year I think ... possibly linked? I believe there are only 8 airworthy in the world.

D-AQUI (the Lufthansa aircraft you flew in) arrived in formation with a Luftwaffe-marked one just as we were leaving the show in Germany. It was bucketing down with rain at the time :(

We've been 'airborne' in one ... but only because it was on the roof of a museum :D
