  • Climate control
  • Bose speaker package
  • Six CD autochanger
  • Factory satellite navigation (COMAND)
  • Cruise control with Speedtronic

  • Full Mercedes-Benz service history
  • MOT August 2008
  • Taxed until August 2008
I bought the car in March 2005 with 80,000 miles on the clock. Between then and now I've put 50,000 miles on the car and its been typically Germanic in its reliability and consistency. Its definitely the best car I've ever had.

I'm a firm believer in proper maintenance so the car has been serviced on the button each time by the Mercedes-Benz main dealer Tony Purslow in Basingstoke. Details of these services are listed on my PH profile, link here... http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showServiceHistory.asp?carId=21028

During the time I've had the car its had all the routine stuff done, plus a new exhaust manifold at just over 100,000 miles, therefore its safe to assume the car will go for another 70,000 miles before it needs another one!

When I drive the car I get around 26 mpg running on super unleaded. When my other half drives the car she manages to get 31 mpg consistently, so this is actually a pretty economical 197 bhp coupe (when she's driving).

Now, The Depressing Stuff...

The CLK is no longer the right car for my needs. It was bought as my sole car in the days before I acquired a fiancee. Fast forward a few years and I have a (wonderful) fiancee, a Brabus Roadster with as much luggage space as pair of combat trousers, and a requirement for a 'sensible' (read dull) diseasel estate for picking up pieces of furniture and taking rubbish to rubbish dumps.

The other major thing prospective buyers need to be aware is that the gearbox needs overhauling. This manifests itself as a lurch between first and second. If you're still reading this (and I hope you are) it means to restore everything to perfect working order you'll need to spend circa £900 at a specialist to get the gearbox overhauled. If I was keeping the car I'd do this as its the only thing stopping it from being pretty much in perfect working order. If you drive the car with the gearbox in 'W' mode (where it starts in second), you do not notice this issue, but I'm not going to lie about it.

The other things I'll mention are that it has a few stone chips consistent with its mileage, and 3 missing pixels on the gear display indicator on the dash which affects several Mercedes from this era. Everything else works perfectly. The steering is accurate, the air con blows cold enough to freeze your fingers to the wheel, and it goes and stops as you'd expect a premium product like this should.

Test Drives and Viewings...

I live in Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire, which is approximately 20 minutes from Reading and close to J8/9 of the M4 and J4 of the M40. I welcome viewings/inspections of the car though test drives can only be taken if you have your own insurance which I will need to see.
The car currently has a private plate but this will come off before the sale.
I'm using it every day so the mileage is increasingly slightly.

Price...

If the car was in perfect working order I'd be advertising it at £6750, with a view to sell it at £6500. Given that it needs a £900 gearbox overhaul I'm advertising it at £5600.

NO CALLS FROM AGENCIES - I WILL SELL THIS CAR ON MY OWN THANKS.
UK BUYERS ONLY (NO RECENTLY BEREAVED NIGERIANS PLEASE).

Contact Details...

I'm happy to talk about the car and have tried to be completely honest in the description.

Thanks for looking!

Andy
