Why do people use these tinyurl links

It masks the real address so I cant make an educated guess as to whether it is safe or not.

What possible benefit is gained from using it?

It's odd to me, that if you're trying to sell a car for £2.2m then you would at least take higher quality photographs in natural light.

but yet still not as good as this :)

And with an embeded hyperlink I can still check the destination before clicking on anything. (which I like to do especially when at work).

Sure, it was in the Spotted on Ebay section but for all I know, your link was going to direct me to a goatse.

So no, it doesnt look in anyway better than the real link. The chances are, I wont bother clicking on it at all.

Mmm, that would happen, wouldn't it? For all I know, I could be killed by an Uzi-toting, crack-dealing yardie on the way home from work tonight, so I'd best sleep in the office.

ummm... well it has been known for people to post inappropriate links.

I only asked why you bother doing it... me no understand.

Highlight the desired word....click 'insert link' then add the url

2.2m for an ugly (apparently unique) car ... just a Maybach after all

madness
