Friend of mine is trying to flog his, it's a late one, pre frog-eye, cosworth badged, 67k miles - anyone got an idea of value, or know anyone who wants one?

Can't see it being worth more than a few hundred. Cosworth may have waved their magic wand over the engine, but beyond that it's just another 14 year old Granada.

ebay is probably the best bet for this.

I am a bit of a cosworth nut and that car is not worth much more than £500-£1000 with ave miliage and history.

I think his issue isn't how much money it's worth, more getting it to someone who doesn't want to break it and stick the engine in a Capri!

If he doesn't want it breaking then his best option is not to sell it! Once it's left your ownership I'm afraid you don't get much choice!

It won't be worth an awful lot to be honest.

Best bet is eBay or similar. If it's really, *really* mint, then try a punt on one of the Ford clubs/websites etc. Although many of the enthusiasts are bound to be trawling eBay anyway :)

ebay will be the best option - it will find its proper market price. anyone who is looking for one, will look on ebay.,

What makes a Granada Cosworth a Cossie, other than the cylinder head.?

It's not in the same league as a Sierra Cossie.

Granada Cosworth is just the 2.9 24v V6 engine.. it isnt a YB motor like in the Sierra..

Pretty much that, the head, and the other head. There were some internal differences and after the first year they changed some of the drivetrain due to early failures. 204bhp I think, they were restricted to, due to the gearbox and rest of drivetrain not being able to handle the potential of the engine.

I've spent quite a bit of time in the Granada and it's a remarkable machine for its age - back then it was considered a proper quick car, 204bhp from a 2.9 wasn't bad either, I think only BMW were getting numbers like that for road car engines without turbos.

300bhp is meant to be possible from the engine, 400+ with turbos.

I had the 2.9i V6 (not 24v) in a Sierra 4x4 - really nice car, good engine it has to be said. Well, it was until it caught fire in a ditch, with me in it...

So in which order was the fire / ditch incident? I had a 2.8 XR4x4 and managed to keep it on the tarmac...

Hmm, don't forget Mercedes-Benz...:)

The 190E could match that power output out of a 4-cylinder 2.5 litre engine, and was launched several years before the Granada/Scorpio 'Cosworth'.

How about 200+ BHP from Hondas 2.2 Litre VTEC engine in the Prelude ?

Ah, but how much power did they officially produce, and when were they launched ;)

I don't know a great deal about Hondas, but I reckon MB were probably first (2.5-16 came out in '88)

The H22 in the '94 Prelude SiR was 200. In '97 they upped this to around 220 for the Type S and Accord Euro R.

The C30 (3 litre) from the NSX was happily chucking out 270 as far back as 1990, and further back to '88, the B16 had 100bhp/litre.

And Mark has definitely proved how tough and versatile that little engine is :D

Following order:
  • Bumpy road
  • Bend
  • Brake
  • No brakes
  • Enter ditch
  • Wedge into ditch
  • Fire starts
  • Can't open door
  • Panic ensues
blah blah blah

Anyway, still here. Have avoided that road since...
