Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

This is for the tech heads >> https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/71d7/2331cd5fe7cbdd4695bc1f886d8450e41345.pdf

It (via computer modelling) explores the potential of applying F1 fuelling ((Turbulent) Jet Injection) to Moto GP 4T and also explores 2T possibilities.
There isn't much info on what gave Mercedes such an advantage in the first few years of the turbo hybrid V6s published, but there's snippets here of why it is so effective.
As I said, for the tech heads - its 14 pages of quite dense material.

Maybe O. K. should have added "for this year anyway" to "not true" as the current commercial agreement with teams and Liberty Media's Formula One expires at the end of the year 2020 and a new deal has yet to be agreed.
Perhaps these unsubstantiated rumours are just opening salvos to this negotiation?

A very optimistic Fernando Alonso. Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari wouldn't want sign him so I fail to see where he would get a competitive seat.

Fernando Alonso ready to return, targets wins in 2021 | PlanetF1

I read this elsewhere too. I'm assuming this is why he severed ties with McLaren as he won't/can't get a seat there. Is he better than Bottas to help secure more points? Maybe, but they have young drivers lined up. Someone like Renault may take him but he would only consider it if they up their game. Red Bull - he doesn't fit their model and have TR to fill any voids.

IF Mercedes do leave in 2021, I think he may stand a good chance of getting a seat in the new team. I wonder who he will race for at the Indy500?

To be honest, for some reason I don't rate Alonso.
Sure he can drive, but I think he is destructive within a team.

Really didn't like being out driven by Lewis (in his rookie season) and now is quick to point out that the six times World champion has driving flaws that other lesser mortals are failing to exploit.

Crashgate in Singapore 2008.

Did SFA at Ferrari (SV has done no better though).

Properly embarrassed his engine supplier (Honda) whilst at McLaren for the second time.

His (hollow) victories at Le Mans were in a car that was the only LMP1 Hybrid on the grid with nothing to compete against besides durability.

Blames everyone for failure but himself.

The list goes on. For me F1 is better off without him skulking around in the background like a stale fart.

As a driver, I still rate him as one of the top ones. His time in F1 realistically may be up as there are lots of youngsters that are performing well. He did do some naughty things in F1, but so did Schumi and many other drivers. He also made some bad decisions regarding moving teams and although he slated Honda, he got more out the car than was expected. Perhaps it gave Honda a kick up the **** they needed? Maybe, but again looking from the other side they were doing their best working flat out.

He obviously wants to come back in a top team, but don't they all (want to drive in a top team)? If SV retires ad the merry go round starts he may have one last chance.

I like Fernando despite the above, agree he should maybe have kept some of his comments for the internal debriefing, and he and McLaren should have respected Honda’s upfront 5 year plan to be winning in F1 (which they did!)

A ‘top’ team is unlikely, however, a certain Mr Stroll is not shy with his investment and with the news he is bringing the Aston Martin brand back in 2021, if he makes the right team decision for Raciing Point this year, maybe there is an opening .... maybe ...

I would have been more surprised if they had let him race!

I was reading an article on the 'GP2 engine' outburst the other day and yes it was out of order but the conversation was between Alonso and his engineer. Obviously the TV broadcasters thought it would make good viewing/listening (which it did) but was damaging for all involved. Maybe he should have sworn in between it to get it bleeped out :D

At a guess, Honda engineers will be quite sensitive to a driver's comments after the Senna incident where Senna felt a vibration from his engine in qualifying and asked for it to be changed. He was over-ruled and the engine failed in the race. From then on, Honda changed tack and never ignored anything he said regarding their engines. Alonso would know this too.

I don't believe that he didn't expect his comments on the radio would be publicised.

The success of the Redbull-Honda setup has exposed the comment - had the McLaren-Honda engine evolved into something successful or had the Red Bull-Honda package flunked then it would be seen in a different light.

Agree on the points above. The Mclaren-Honda may have been a success however I believe it was a challenge due to the 'size zero' packaging of their car/engine.

It could well be the case that Mssrs. Newey et al have made a better job of packaging the (no doubt also improved) Honda engine to end up with a more competitive car overall. Alonso's denegrating remarks (even if perhaps technically accurate and heartfelt) were well out of order and not for the first time. If he'd wanted a conversation with his engineer about the poor performance of the engine, that's one thing and could have been done after the race during debrief. Slagging off the engine effectively to an audience of millions was an arrogant, foolish thing to do.

I'm not surprised Honda have put the block on, I'd be more surprised if they had allowed him to sit in the car.
