Clearly not good if a driver is hit on the head by something like a wheel, but the halo system probably would not have protected Massa from being hit by a spring. Would also have done nothing for Jules Bianchi.

I think it's an over reaction to elf and safety and will make driver extraction more difficult than it is already. The halo is also ugly. Needles to say, I'm not a fan.

They have. They ALL agree not to use the halo and they will win. It's very simple. They all need to stand firm against the rule makers.

Not all of the drivers are against HALO.

The rule makers aren't actually massively concerned about driver safety per ce.

They are more concerned about bad publicity, loss of revenue and being sued on the basis that they could have done more to make to minimise the likelihood of something hitting the driver on the head. It's hard to argue against HALO and other safety features from a corporate perspective.

Also hasn't the GP Driver's union (or whatever they call it) come out in support of the Halo or an equivalent safety device?

That would suggest that most drivers are, if not in favour, not actually against it.
