Formula One 2018 - General Thread

It seems Max Verstappen has learnt nothing. If he tried that with Danny Ric or many others on the grid he'd end up on his a$$
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Max Verstappen defends Esteban Ocon altercation at Brazilian Grand Prix

I watched the Press Conference today and his Thursday interview, he clearly hasn't learnt a thing. What was comical though was when he was asked about his 'community service' he said 'no details yet but we will see what the FIA say and see what we can agree o' or words to that effect. Like he will have a choice!

Alonso was asked which was his best moment and he said 2007 with Lewis :D :D

Hard to believe that it’s almost 5 years since I was last at the Yas Marina circuit for the very first race with Bentley’s GT3 car. We’d chosen a nice little 12 hour race do ‘dip our toe in the water’ (!) as a new team with a new car…..:dk:
We didn’t win the race, but the car and team performed well and in motorsport parlance, we did a Moses…….we came fourth.

I’m the one not in overalls clutching my little black book.

One of my roles as Performance Engineer was to assist the multi rally championship winning M Sport team expand to be a crack circuit racing team.
You may remember that during that period a certain Robert Kubica was driving one of their Fiesta World Rally cars.
Lovely guy, and there is no doubt about his talent, speed or commitment.
However, maybe it was something to do with his rehab as a competitive driver, but the vast majority of his rallies ended in the hedge with ambition getting the better of adhesion, or was that his physical ability?

I wish Robert all the best on his return to F1 and I will be intrigued by his progress with the Williams team next year.

While Verstappen undoubtedly has the required speed and car control, I can't help wondering if he has the necessary mental attributes to make it to the top of F1.

Another fantastic lap from Lewis, I don't even with another run that anyone had an answer to that.

Alonso demonstrated again how good a driver he is, getting out of Q1

Ocon has been named as Mercedes' reserve drive for 2019 (and may well be for Force India and Williams too - tbc). Bottas will need to up his game next year or I can see it as being his last season at Mercedes.

^^Although Ferrari did throw away the championship in 2013 when he was leading going into the last race but their poor strategy (again!) cost him the title.

I hope he wins the Indy500 next year, can see him coming back into F1 in 2020

It would be nice to see the young star get a drive in F1
As for today’s race, quite an exciting start but a lovely end with the Lewis and Sebastian escort Fernando Alonso home on his last race in F1
Mystified why the stewards gave Alonso a 5 second penalty when Bottas got away with it, I wonder how long he will be with Mercedes.

Great result for LH although pitting him early had me scratching my head and hoping they'd made the correct choice in doing so. The opening laps incident was a bit of a heart stopping moment especially when the fire extinguishers came out, but glad he's ok.

LH really showed how good is really is this season especially before SV started making mistakes. Fair do's to MV for finishing 4th overall and making it up to 3rd although I look forward to a race where he doesn't "collide" with another driver. As for Bottas. Going backwards isn't in Mercs interest so i'd imagine he'll be gone next year with Ocon in the seat.

Nice gesture at the end of the race with Alonso  Roll on 2019 with the new drivers and new regs kicking in.

LH is a movie star

He didn't have so many lines back in 2007.
