Only about £3, but the testers labour is most of the rest.
So forty minutes work for £22, not worth bothering unless you 'find' work then...

I'm not trying to convince you, I've already said it's not ethical, but as a marketing exercise it works.
Why didn't you just refuse to pay the £54? Maybe they beat the cash out of you?
Not at all.
It's you who seems to castigate one business for using marketing tools, yet actively supported another for doing exactly the same.
Anyway, the moral of this story is this garage will get no more money from me on anyone I know ever again......its their loss not mine.
Can you point me to where I critised the business in this thread, I am pretty sure I was just commenting on your less than dignified 180
Please show me where that is?
Discount thats not a discount

You seem to have a memory problem.
I said that from the company's point of view it was a good thing, from the "punters", it wasn't as it wasn't real.
Umm...pretty similar, I think.
The whole point of "offers" is to attract new custom, which will, hopefully, lead to returning custom/recommendation/additional business.
Clearly the guy the OP dealt with had missed this point, whether voucher first or voucher last.
they aren't going to lose any sleep over that.
vijilants, I obviously don't know you personally, and you may well be a very reasonable and mild-mannered gentleman.
However on Internet forums impressions are made and opinions formed very quickly and often based on partial and single-sided information.
In that context your position here is not helped by the three exclamation marks in the header - unfortunately it does make you come across as someone rather impatient, and I suspect that at least in some people's mind the question will be just how reasonable were you during your encounter with the MOT tester.
