Four advisory Items today on my Merc MOT plus really poor service !!!

Need a spade DM you can keep on digging

Not at all.

It's you who seems to castigate one business for using marketing tools, yet actively supported another for doing exactly the same.

The whole point of "offers" is to attract new custom, which will, hopefully, lead to returning custom/recommendation/additional business.

Clearly the guy the OP dealt with had missed this point, whether voucher first or voucher last.

A schoolboy error, and if he treats all his customers that way, one he will come to regret.

So forty minutes work for £22, not worth bothering unless you 'find' work then...

No such thing as a free lunch.

My stable currently runs at four, all of which get a full price MOT at a test only station, who are pretty strict.

I'm not trying to convince you, I've already said it's not ethical, but as a marketing exercise it works.

Why didn't you just refuse to pay the £54? Maybe they beat the cash out of you?

The guy had my car keys and after his rudeness was pointing to the smallprint. I hadn't read the smallprint and according to the smallprint, I should have given in the voucher at the beginning of the test but he was simply using it as his excuse for some other motive he had in his head.

The whole situation was getting quite aggressive and I certainly did not want to start my weekend off with a punch up !!!

Anyway, the moral of this story is this garage will get no more money from me on anyone I know ever again......its their loss not mine.

Can you point me to where I critised the business in this thread, I am pretty sure I was just commenting on your less than dignified 180

I hate to point out the obvious, but they aren't going to lose any sleep over that.

If its not his garage report him simple as that, last year i parked my car in bham airport whilst i soaked up the Mediterranean sun, upon arrival i forgot what level i parked the car so after half an hour searching around at 2am i called the attendant who sent a chap round in a van to drive me up the levels to find the car, he drove through that car park like a scolded whippet & was arrogant to say the least. Welcome back to england i thought to my self!, next morning i reported him to customer services who tracked him down & sent him on a customer coarse of some kind as well as a stiff talking too. i was given a free parking for next holiday which i booked last week for 3 weeks! that saved me £190 bucks:D

Please show me where that is?

You seem to have a memory problem.

I said that from the company's point of view it was a good thing, from the "punters", it wasn't as it wasn't real.

Umm...pretty similar, I think.

But this is the thing though John, the reason that he was so ****** off with the OP for giving him the voucher afterwards was because if he'd have known, he'd have found a few little jobs to bump his earnings up.

In his eyes, it's the OP that's had him over and not the other way round.

Some of the mechanics that I know who run their own business have the worse customer service skills I've ever known, but they can strip an engine with their eyes shut...

I know which I'd rather have working on my car.

vijilants, I obviously don't know you personally, and you may well be a very reasonable and mild-mannered gentleman.

However on Internet forums impressions are made and opinions formed very quickly and often based on partial and single-sided information.

In that context your position here is not helped by the three exclamation marks in the header - unfortunately it does make you come across as someone rather impatient, and I suspect that at least in some people's mind the question will be just how reasonable were you during your encounter with the MOT tester.

I was in quite a good mood when I went to pay the guy...after all, the car had passed and I think any one of us who has a car pass an MOT, at that moment feels good. I was very reasonable, and in no way rude....When the guy started off with " Ive had enough of this....." I was quite shocked by his attitude.

By the time I left the place I was fuming and I posted this as soon as I got back so I was quite upset, hence the exclamation marks.
