French war on diesel.

    Presumably an attempt to stimulate the car market and an indirect boost to French car manufacturers. [ I believe the French still predominantly buy French built cars?] A bit like our old scrappage allowance and the present [ soon to end?] £5,000 electric/hybrid subsidy. Merely handing a wodge of dosh to your domestic car manufacturers might be against EEC rules but cloth it in the respectable "haute cuture" of ecological improvement et VOILA!

    Recent driving in France and Germany highlights the advance of the Koreans, Japanese and Romanians.

    I don't recall seeing any hybrids however. One Tesla. Out of the big cities range anxiety might be much more of an issue.

    I can see "Où est le point de recharge le plus proche pour ma voiture s'il vous plaît?" being added to "Docteur quelle est la cause de cette éruption " in French phrase books as we speak. ;)
    AND
    lest the younger generation feel left out.
