Just had some tires changed today and the front left wheel as a teeny wobbly feeling. We tried to take out the bearing cap/ hub to look at it but no luck, it didn't move. Before taking the hammer and bash it to move it out of the way, is there an easiest way to do it?
Cheers.

Tap the cap with a hammer then put a screwdriver in the tiny gap between the cap and the hub then lever away.

Mine took a bit of getting out.

If you bend it you can reuse it again just put a little silicone aound the edge to keep it waterproof.

Prob not that dear from mb.

Dont remove all the play from the bearing.

Meant to be set up with a gauge, but i have never used on many similair set ups.

Thank you. We did tap it a bit and try to lever it with a screw driver but as it was not moveable we prefered to ask first. Now I'll use the hammer properly :)
I'll tie it up just a wee more, there is a wee play on the wheel, might be some other rubber/ joints like 50 or 8 too?
All the best.

I just did the very same job on mine this morning after an advisary at the MOT. I didn't have a dial gauge for the setup used some common sense and got a feeling for it. As for the bearing cap....

Removal Method:- big hammer, big screwdriver.

Replacement method:- big hammer.

i always nip the nut up, then back off half a turn.

I would say half a turn is way to loose.
Finger tight, back a knatts tadger will be fine.

If you can feel any play, these are too loose, and half a turn is way too much to loosen the nut.

A dial gauge is by far the best way to set these up. (They aren't expensive, or difficult, or time consuming to use)

Just did it, it was a teeny loose, I just tied it up just a fraction, no more play anymore. Result! The hub was a pain to take off but after a wee fight I manage to remove it :thumb:
All good now. Waiting on another set of tires to put at the front, I'm impress with the 452, the Sava were terrible on the wet
