Front centre console (cubby box) w124 removal

    Can the sliding wood part of the centre cubby box (between front seats) be removed without damage to either wood or the vynal box?

    if so anyone know how?

    Take the console out by removing the two screws at the front of the base. Then dismantle it by removing the four screws that hold the top & bottom together and unclipping the two halves. The roll top can then be slid out
