Hello all, be grateful for help on this. My front distance warning comes on with sound alert when no other cars around. Very loud very irritating. Usual mechanic hasn't fixed it. Is there a way of fixing or permanently disabling this does anyone know.
Thanks
Nick

Welcome.

To clarify, are you referring to the collision warning, or to the parking sensors?

If collision warning, then:

1. Check that the radar sensor in the front grille, and the windscreen area in front of the forward facing camera, are clean and unobstructed.

2. Get the car scanned with STAR for fault codes by an independent MB specialist.

3. If no fault found, get the independent specialist to update the firmware on all related ECUs.

If parking sensors:

1. Check for physical damage around the front bumper area.

2. Get the car scanned with STAR for fault codes by an independent MB specialist, it should point out which parking sensor failed and needs replacing. This can also be done DIY using iCarsoft or similar.

Thanks for replies. Its the radar front distance warning sensor. Since my post it seems likely that the cause is that the sensor has been dislodged behind the grill badge. Am investigating this and also in the meantime deactivating, probably journey by journey.
