Great board.

I've noticed on some of the pictures that the front grill has been changed showing chrome on all the horizontals, any idea where I can get one for my 1997 C280?

    Cheers

It's £164 including VAT IIRC. Don't be surprised if your stealership deny knowledge of the part, you'll get used to that, we all have

It's the first mod I did, and it's certainly one of the best. Only takes 10 minutes to install, and requires just a basic set of tools (I used my £5 cheapo pc repair type kit).

cheers Shude.....I thought K had over-estimated the cost. Didn't realise he was quoting for the whole grille assembly.

I'm sure I've seen them advertised at Euro Car Parts. They are less than £100 if I remember correctly. Not sure about quality Though.

Keep us informed as the grill on my E-Class (W210) is the same style as yours and like you I prefer the all chrome slats rather than Just the 2 horizontal chrome ones.

Yeah Paul, I've also seen the W210 avantgarde insert advertised by Euro Parts quite cheaply.

I believe the w210 avantgarde grill is only £85ish from the stealership, as Koolvin says this can be cut to size to fit the w202, that's what MBenzNL did, that's what MB does (mine has a w210 part no. on it) and that's what Bekkers etc do.

I was just lazy and bought the pre-cut one, only takes 10 mins to fit etc, no messing around.

It surely must be less hassle buying an e class avantgarde.

I have just found the W210 Avantgarde complete grill on Euro Car Parts for £55 plus VAT!

Will it fit a W202 C-class? I read here somewhere that it needs modifying, how much needs to be done?

The pictures on here look great, I am going past a Euro Parts shop tomorrow and I may get one if it will fit.

Jimmy: no, it won't fit straight out of the box.

You have to take a fair bit off the top and sides to get it in, but it can be done.

    £55 +VAT......make that £250 if you're running a sware box

I second that. I get pebble-dashed by stones regularly on the roads near me. Would be interested in those, MB don't sell any OEM ones (or so my parts guy told me).
