I want to replace the front speakers soon, and they are under funny grills that hold them down. There are also clips undernieth that hold them.

Will aftermarket 3 1/2 coax fit in place of the standard ones? A friend was saying that the Clarion ones sound real nice.

3 1/2, dont be silly!!

5" fit in there mate!!

if you file off the surrounding metal that normally has the screw holes to secure them, it will sit straight in. Then just use trusty ol' no more nails to hold them in.

As for the grills, all you need is one flat small screwdriver, and one long small tip phillips.

on the edge of the grill (facing inwards) there is a strip, get the small flat screwdriver under there, and just prize it, when you do it for the first time, you may think you may break it, but you wont. Then you will see where the phillips screw is that holds the grill on, simply unscrew and pull grill away from windscreen. You will be left with the bare speaker, in dash. Normally they can just be pulled out by hand, but if they are tight, put your hand underneath the dash and under the speaker, push the 4 clips inwards releasing the speaker.

Cor, next time i'll show you, too much writing and its so simple!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Oh yeah, and geoff, i know you wont be happy with the clarions, for coaxials i prefer the sound of MTX's, very sweet for coaxials. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I have been offered a trial of both the MTX and the clarions, which I will sure do. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

My only &nbsp;concern is the way the speakers were held in, as the clips may not hold the new basket? I will have to try I suppose.

PS, I cut my deck today <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> &nbsp;BIG hole 16x30 odd inch.... &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

The last time i did the deck, i cut the whole thing out, and replaced with 24mm MDF.

Then had easy work there on...
