Hi all!!
I recently broke a front spring and went into my local stealer for price and availability. He gave me a print of all the different spring and shim options with the colour blobs on the spring but it turns out my 2 front springs are from a clk!!!!! Just wondering if this is a regular upgrade/mod is the clk sprung slightly more stiffer as it’s a coupe??? Any knowledge or experience would be great fully welcome

No idea regarding the possibility of being a 'mod' for the E55 but I would have thought, unless the CLK was the 55/500 the springs would be woefully under spec'd for the weight of the E55. Plus, as the coupe shell tends to be less stiff, the suspension tends to be softer.

What did the dealer quote for the correct springs for our '55?

As in price? €150 each

Interesting... Not a bad price for MB springs and you'll know they are correct spec but I'm intrigued as to whether this is a known mod, fitting CLK springs.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking!!!! My problem now is change like for like or go back to original e55 springs but then I have an issue with which shin to fit......‍♂️♂️♂️

That's interesting, my copy of EPC (2017) shows only 1 front spring for a 208.374 - A210 321 32 04, and 2 for a 208.474 - A210 321 14/18 04.

For a 210.074 (MY2000 onwards) however, it gives 9 possibilities -A210 321 15/16/21/22/26/28/29/30/31 04, none of which are those listed for the 208.374.

All 4 springs on my AMG have the paint codes on them along with a part number and AMG printed on the coils. 135000 miles. They might (all 4 of them ?) been replaced with OE by a previous owner, who knows ?
Very different car age and weight wise but for what its worth my front springs are silver/green/green/green A203 321 7004 front struts are '34', the rear springs are yellow/yellow , rear shocks are H42. All are marked AMG

None of this will help you much , but someone somewhere a long time ago took some time and effort to get AMG suspension dialled in for each model, so my guess is getting the match right is the way to go.

Little bit more info from EPC:

208.374 springs A 210 321 32 04 are quoted for 210.074/274 upto model year 809 and ident no A962231 without option 214 adaptive damping system. Unfortunately EPC doesn't give the colour marks for this particular spring, but gives all the others.

May be worth posting up your VIN so I and others can see what their EPCs give for it.

Hi the part number is 210 321 32 04
I have the car 11 years, I bought it with 60k on the clock,I'd be surprised if they were changed prior to that but then again anything is possible!!!!!!
