I'm going to have a set of 14" Fuchs 'Mexican Hat' alloy wheels for sale , from the early W126 280SE I'm buying ; I also have a set of four Dunlop SP Sport 195/70 HR 14 tyres which have seen very little use although are 3 or 4 years old .
The wheels on the W126 are , from memory , in good condition in as much as they are not dinged or dented anywhere , but they are dirty and may clean up OK or may need refurbishment - I have still not taken delivery of this car due to still having the Fintail taking up space on my drive - but will go down and take photographs of the wheels tomorrow . I suspect these wheels will probably be the same width/offset as those fitted to W123 models and will confirm exactly what size they are tomorrow .
The tyres are ones I bought for my 190E less than a year before I got the 190E 2.6 and then gave the older car away to a friend with the stipulation that I wanted my 'new' tyres back - the tyres have been stored in my shed since and I only covered 5 or 6 thousand miles on them so very little tread wear . I know tyres of this size are difficult to obtain now and are sought after by owners of W123 models , particularly the 280E/CE/TE .
I was going to put these tyres onto the 280SE , but I have just been offered a set of 15 hole alloys of the same design as fitted to my 500SEL and I prefer the look of these even if slightly less original .
I can't remember if the spare in the 280SE is steel or another alloy but it will be included whatever it is ; the tyres currently on the Fuchs alloys are legal but not great and I'm not sure how old they are . When I'm down at the car tomorrow , I will confirm what the 5th wheel is and post back here along with some pictures of both wheels and tyres .
I'd be looking for £150 for the set of five wheels complete with old tyres and the four 'good' tyres as a job lot with the buyer either collecting or arranging a courier .
Please PM if interested .
