Hi all, changed glow plugs, oil and oil filter. Broke fuel rail pressure sensor and replaced. It started and run for 20 seconds, cut out and now won’t start. Any advice on a sequence for bleeding air out.
C 2.1 D ec 2014 651 engine diesel estate.

Simple things first cycle the ignition 5 times before starting.

Never had air bleeding problems on the om651 even when had the lines disconnected and injectors removed. Do you have access to live data? If so what fuel pressure are you getting when cranking over?

Hi James, I got this exact same issue with the same code, pretty much the same car as well, C250d AMG, car starts and then cuts out - racking my brains on this one... convinced I have an airlock, pressure is at 260 bar from the HPFP so thats not issue.... be grateful if you could shed any light on this. Thanks

Hi, from memory we did this

Fuel System is Self-Purging

The W205 has an electric in-tank fuel pump, and the fuel system is generally self-priming. However, after significant work (like changing a fuel rail component), manual priming may help.

2.
How to purge air / prime fuel system
You can try this sequence:
  • Turn ignition to ON (position II) for 10–15 seconds without starting the engine.
  • Then turn OFF.
  • Repeat this cycle 5–6 times to allow the in-tank pump to run and push fuel through the lines.
  • After that, attempt to start the engine. You should hear a soft humming from the rear of the car when the pump primes.

Thanks for getting back to me - will update the thread should I ever get this thing started.
