Fuel filler cap cord fixing, HELP.

I have purchased a new petrol filler cap for my 2006 CLK as the old one is broken, but I can't work out how to remove the old cord from the inside of the filler cover flap, which is held in place by a kind of grommet which I will reuse for the new one.
Can anyone help me please?

I replaced mine a few months ago

squeeze the back of the grommet together and it will pry out - you may snap it as its pretty tight but new one is pennies from a dealer if that happens.

I managed to pop it off and it few to the other side of the garage - luckily in one piece !
