Hi,

Just picked up my used approved E250 estate and the filler cap won’t pop open when you press it. The plunger pops up when you press it down and it clicks shut when you close the flap but it’s like when you push the flap in to open it it’s not pushing the plunger far enough.

Just wondered if it’s something really simple and common before I end up taking it to a dealer to get sorted.

Thanks.

On my W204, you need to press the leading edge of the flap inwards and it then pops back out.

On my old W203 however, you needed to press the rear part of the flap inwards, in effect levering-out the leading edge.

From 1:40 onwards.

Also, note the emergency release of the fuel flap in the first part of the W203 video.

I suggest you try both methods.

It will open if you use the palm of your hand to press it and press it hard.

Can I ask if anyone would know if the filler flap on a W246 has an emergency handle to open the flap in the case of actuator failure please. Other half's B180 has this problem and is low on fuel

Car now with local specialist who's had experience of this issue before. I'll report back with costs etc and also how good this guy is as never used him before.

We picked the car up this morning, £72 all in. New MB actuator fitted. Well pleased. I'll post a recommendation on the appropriate forum.

Always good to have a happy ending to a thread rather than most where we are left hanging wondering what happened!
