Fuel Guage (again)

My fuel guage never drops below half full. I am guessing that the sensor in the tank must be to blame but does anyone have any experience of these.

How do I diagnose this to confirm the cause of the fault? Can the sensor be adjusted or be repaired? How easy/expensive are they to replace?

Any advice appreciated.

my c200 fuel gauge stopped working 2 days ago after a filling the tank!.
it stopped working and started working again and is now not working-kaput.
it can only be one of 3 things,

faulty sender unit-apparently there are two of them in my car,both only accesible from the underneath the car!-either faulty senders or loose connectors.

loose connecter at the instument cluster end.

faulty fuel gauge itself.-unlikely at 56,000miles.

the haynes manual is a good source of where the items are located-for the 190e -there is a single sender located on the top of the tank ,access from the boot floor.

just some feedback-the fuel gauge is now working again itself.!!
only thing i could think of was i overfilled the fuel tank or faulty electrical connection.

keeping fingers crossed.

Hmmm,

I wish mine would do that.

Its a bit worrying when you just dont quite know how much fuel you got left.

I usually run it until I have hit 300 miles from full and then fill up but one day its gonna catch me out for sure.

I got to get it sorted before it does.
