I have to replace the fuel line between the fuel filter and the front of the engine on a 2004 C270 cdi.

Do I need to prime the line in any way or do I just connect and crank the engine until it starts?

Just crank (a lot!) until it starts, the system is self bleeding

If you have a Pela/Oil extraction pump you can use it to pull the fuel through a bit to save your battery/starter. If not no worries just keep cranking without break as above.

While you are at it you may as well change the fuel filter.

Once again, thanks for the advice...cranked it and cranked it and thought it was never going to start, then she fired up and has been running ok since.

As a matter of interest, the seals on the low pressure pipes on the front of the engine were in a poor condition and virtually fell to pieces...I guess these were the dodgy ones that were letting air in leading to starting problems.
