Fuel may drop below £1/L !

I remember when it was about 50p a GALLON :D

I worked in a full service filling station while I was at college when it was 50p per gallon and people used to ask for £4 worth and then swear blind they said 4 gallons and they only had £2 on them.

As far as prices now are concerned I think they should put it up. The roads seemed to be jammed with people just driving around to annoy me! :)

I start a new job next week so if the fuel prices are coming down that is good news as my commute will be about 40 miles each way. :)

^ You're way too young laddie. My first Lambretta filled up for 2/6 a gallon.

edit. beat me by a minute but great minds think alike.

Let me try and get this right 2/6 would have been 12 and half pence new money .. Can just remember decimalisation. Used to get a Half Crown a week for ma pocket money for washing the dish's and emptying the bin.A tidy sum in its day...

SMEESH.....;)

About 18 years ago when diesel was about 70 odd pence per ltr my daily commute would cost me about 12 quid a day.

Today the same journey would cost about the same thanks to modern engines.

Can't have it all ways round.

Half a crown = 2/6...for the uninitiated.

Well there is nothing to stop a barrel of oil going down to $34 which should mean a price of below £1 a litre,we have a giant overhang of oil stored over the market and the producers are not cutting production,it is only speculation that is keeping the price hovering around $40.

My only memory of 'old' money is that everything seemed to cost 2/6. That and my Dad grumbling that shopkeepers used decimalisation as an excuse to put prices up.

Costco fuel. Unleaded 99p a litre and diesel £1.02.

Super unleaded. £1.04.

Unleaded has gone up this week in this part of Somerset from 106.9 to 108.9 a litre.......

Don't get too excited, it'll provide a chancellor scrabbling around for every penny he can get with an excuse to increase the duty.

With Turkey shooting down the russian plane traders are buying up oil pushing the price north

Lots of Iranian oil to come onto the market in 2016, wholesale prices of Petrol and Diesel are now the lowest for years but its very slow to filer through to the pumps.

this is a good time for the Government to increase petrol duty

Filled Angie's SLK at ASDA Milton Keynes Stadium today and paid 99.7p / litre :thumb:

^ I filled it, she paid. Division of labour and all that...

:D
