I could do with a little information just now. My engine is a M103 . And the fuel pressure regulator might need replacing .I have had a problem with the car from day one 3 years ago . Starting it is not clean .But it will start every time .But when it is warm , it starts and stops. I have done all that i can to sort this out .So my question is can i replace the seals and O ring inside this type of regulator , or do i need to replace the whole regulator. The picture is for the regulator fitted to the M103 engine. On ebay the part for my car looks as if its replacable .Thats what i need to know. Also need the operating bar pressure for it..

Warm start issues are quite common on the M103. Had it with my W201 2.6, and was cured by a new set of injectors. What makes you think it's the regulator?

Clubman .Grabing at straws ,Start up is like right away , but dies down ,this is in a few seconds , then will come back up to normal revs. Also another thing yesterday on my way to the mot station as i took my foot off the gas, it was as if the timeing was out just that little bit.

O/prime. Over the years I've had the odd problem with KE-Jet systems. My advice would be to get the system checked by a specialist (you'll need to picky who you use). I would suggest there's nothing wrong with your FPR because as far as I'm aware it's not a common issue. Common items to look at: vacuum leaks, worn throttle potentiometer, throttle micro switch, out of sync metering head etc.

John what about injector and injector seals. Looking to-day after i fitted a new fresh air trunking . I pushed my finger down the injector holder as far as i could till i contacted the seal . When i removed it my finger was black with carbon ,well it look like it .This engine is 27 years old allthough the head was done some years back. Also know of people that purchased new injectors, who have had to return them ,like 2 out of six faulty. And then on the other hand a chap thats had m103s all his life and never had to change one of them .

John i was on youtube looking at a faulty fuel regulator on a 260E to see fuel dribble out the vacuum pipe fitted in the centre .This is what you get if the diaphragm is split.I have a problem ,and i know i have . Warm start after sitting for an hour . Might be cold start not switching off ,or not closing .Temp sensor faulty so the cold start will not close

O/p. KE injectors are a service item, M-B recommend they are replaced @ 60k miles but few seem to replace them at the first 60,000. Worthwhile to do, they are cheap but just as importantly or even more importantly the seals need renewing too, inexpensive also.

Sure your FPR could be faulty, if it is and you can see fuel dripping you've only one option. Anyway worth replacing regardless if you haven't got a fuel pressure test kit.

What's you're email address and I'll send you some KE injection literature on fault finding.
