Fuel Pump

Hi Peeps,

Went to start my C class today and at first would not start she would keep spinning key had locked in so did not have to hold it, and then eventually started.....

Am i right in thinking fuel pump is on it's way out I did change the fuel filter a few weeks ago....

Could be loads of things, but to check pump when the ign is switched on but engine not started pump will run for a short time 2 to 10 secs ish and you can hear the buzz, if its buzzing its probably okay.

Could be worth plugging a gauge into the injector main line and see if you are getting pressure ( ie the pump could be running but doing nothing)50psi ish on mine and the wifes car.

Wifes wouldnt start the other day and i read the code and a new crank sensor sorted it out, not sure if same on 4 cyl models but very common merc fault, her symptons were the exact same as yours just spinning but no start usually ok cold but no go when hot.
