Fuel sender on cdi 220 2002

Hi,the fuel sender does not level the fuel & the car will only work when over half full. Any help will be much appreciated. I have bought a new relay in the hope that is the problem. The sender unit is the one without electric pump. cheers.

Try search 'saddle tank syndrome'...

sometimes it's hp-pump related...

Hi, the thing is when I fill the tank it works perfect. I have plenty of rail pressure etc it just wont send the fuel over. everything else is bang on. cheers,al

It's all about return flow, it 'powers' levelling system...

Are there not two sender units in that model?

Hi, Harry. Yes there is. As you are looking at the front of the car the left side is the one that empties & the right side remains full & does not send the fuel over. I have sourced a replacement but I will have to try the new relay first.

Hi, I have managed to get the car started & it seems tat it will only run with over half full tank! one tank is full & the other empty, so it is not sending the fuel over. Can anyone help? thanks.

Replace the high pressure pump.
