Thanks for posting those codes Chris ,nice to have a list like that for a reference !

I had a Star Diagnostic run on my car and I am not able to understand what is meant by "ARA faulty / open circuit"
My engine is a 605.911 and has covered 111500 Km, has uneven idling as though one cylinder is not delivering the best. I had the injectors calibrated earlier but of no avail. The power improved but the odd shudder when the engine goes past 1100 RPM when on no load was reduced. The power delivery really begins after 1800 RPM, till which it is a docile animal. Could anyone guide me please?

the car is a W124 E 250 D of 1996 manufacture and has been cared for all along by the previous owner.

ARA = Anti Jerking Control  :bannana:  :D

Any possibility some entries in this list are wrong? I think P2038 is short cct to gnd of post cat lambda sensor.
Alternative of course is that my information is wrong. In which case I will be chasing the wrong fault on my car.

I had P2038 code on my car or a few weeks, since replacing the post cat lambda sensor with an aftermarket part. I checked the car for a short to ground but no short found. Over a week ago I replaced the post cat lambda sensor with another one and the fault disappeared and has not recurred since.

My conclusion, based on what happened on my vehicle is that P2038 relates to a problem with the post cat lambda sensor.

Hope this helps.

P203B-001 G3/1 (O2 sensor after CAT),overload short [P0137]
P203B-002 G3/1 (O2 sensor after CAT),positive short [P0138]

Maybe it's a B and not an 8 :)

Having concentrated deeply without interruption for a full 10 minutes, I have now committed all 3 pages of aforementioned lists to memory. How strange is that?

Sprinter Diagnostics (older model)

I took the Sprinter (1998 410 D LWB) to a so called Mercedes specialist (but not a main dealer) to see if he could advise on my query about the Pre Glow indicator light (described in another thread of this forum) He had all the equipment including an OBD adapter for the old style 14 pin socket but he couldn't get any response with his lap top. The guy was not too helpful and charged me £20 for making the attempt saying he can't do anything until I get the problem fixed. (what are "specialists" for ? I wondered)
Anyway I have bought an OBD connector and adaptor so that I can do my own investigation. Now I need some diagnostics software to run on a lap top and looking on the web it is difficult to choose. There are many OTT descriptions of wonderful stuff to be had alongside dire warnings about garbage you are likely to get if you are foolish enough to buy from EBay!
One system called TOAD is much publicised and I wonder if it is any good? Has anyone tried it and can it be obtained at a reasonable price?
Finally Thanks for posting the error codes which I will hopefully make use of,assuming they are applicable to the Sprinter ?

I use the Torque App with my OBD ll reader. does the job :)

The codes should work fine for your Sprinter

Faults and diagnosis

Chris A if a fault occurs that is only perhaps happening occasionally as on my E220, ie on long m/way runs when the engine loses power, won't pull, for 2/3 mins then picks up and runs normally at speed for another 100mls.if the codes are viewed would there be a clue as to what has occurred and what has caused it? I ask because I have this problem, and the car goes in next week for checks. To read the whole story go to my post on page 2 on 15/10/14 of this Engine site.

It sounds like you need to do some data logging to find the issues :dk:

Could be a dirty injector or connection. Check each connection and make sure they all fit well :thumb:
