My TDV6 Discovery 3 had a similar sounding problem which turned out to be an injector.

I'm not too up on your BMW TD6 lump though, hopefully it won't be anything too dreadful.

How many miles have you done now since you bought it? Any other issues?

it's on 111021.... No other issues.

I'm glad it happened when it did, rather than on the side of the motorway with the family or worse on the way to Le Mans.

My own fault as I had been telling the brother in-law how reliable it had been.

It was probably sabotaged by your brother-in-law...

Is it me, or do you have a near 100% record for expensive repairs on the cars you've owned?.................Can I direct you towards a nice new lease car with full warranty? ;)

I do seem to have been a little unlucky. Having said that I had the Saab, S80, E320 all older cars none of which generated huge bills.

I've recently changed my work car for a Leased XC60.

Ah, makes sense. Good to spread the risk a bit.
Hope the RR is fixed without too much financial damage.

What's the diagnosis David?

Turbo?

Ha! Diagnosis was initially injector. I then mentioned as an aside that my wife had filled it early so we would not have to fill up on the motorway.

She put Petrol in it.

£404 which includes £110 of diesel, a full system drain, 3 forte diesel treatments and 4 hours of labour. Mechanic thinks we've got away with it.

So even though your missus tried killing it, the pesky unreliable Range Rover just keeps on keeping on?

Fancy that...

The bit I "like" above on your diagnosis is - Mechanic thinks you got away with it.

Glad it's all (hopefully) sorted. Great cars. Hope it keeps well for you, David. :thumb:

Well.

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Yes, it was my way.

The car leaves me in a few days. It's been a fine companion, if a little stately and certainly likes to 'sup.

Despite threads of doom, it's cost me not a fortune to run, and has handled everything thrown at with aplomb.

So what can possibly replace the car that does everything....

Well - the FFRR TDV8 of course :)

First time I've ever bought the same make and model in succession.

I've found that those who slag off Range Rover have usually been brainwashed into thinking that a) anything British is unreliable and b) everything German is uber-reliable and in my vast experience of buying, owning and driving many cars JLR vehicles have been more reliable and less costly to run.

One of my brothers bought one 4 years ago. So far it has cost him:

One fuel pump.

And..oh yes, that's it!

Excellent choice….I am biased, of course. The 3.6 or the 4.4? I can recommend the latter wholeheartedly.

I considered a 4.4 TDV8 but just didn't like the high seating position.

Same with the X5 M50d. Must just not be a 4x4 kinda person.
