Hi Guys,
I've been investigating a problem with my alarm(Siren not sounding) and found fuse no 5 in the boot had blown, I replaced and it blew again(This seems to also operate the interior rear light/vanity lights for visors.

Do you have any pointers on what could be causing this? I'm thinking, based on the posts I have read, that the siren is shorting out due to corrosion or similar does this sound right?

If this is the case, does anyone know where I can find the Siren on my car? Its a CLK55 AMG W208(2000)

Sorry, one other thing, Its got a great retro motorola 2700 phone, does anyone know where I put a sim in to make it work? I'm thinking I need to find the transceiver..

Thanks in advance for your ongoing support in my quest to make my car perfect...

Does the fuse blow instantaneously or do the lights last a bit first?

Sounds like you have a short circuit somewhere.... you will need a circuit diagram to trace the cable paths.

On the SIM... will it be one of the credit card sized ones?

I think it will be cc sized, not sure how/where it might be. The fuse blew when I checked it after replacing it. Not sure if it was instant or after I set the alarm. Guess I'll need to get an auto electrician to have a look....

Cheers Baron, I'll keep looking, I'm sure there's a transceiver somewhere on the car just need to find it I guess

Don't know if the CLK is the same as a C but try having a look under the front passenger footwell mats. On mine there was a a removable footplate with all the phone stuff under there. Just a thought. Regards, Jeff

Yippee Found the transceiver for the phone just need to get a cc sized sim ,, Now where do I buy them from

All the sims i have bought are credit card sized and you have to snap out the little sim bit to fit the phone, so should just fit straight from the packet.
They are free on e bay:D seriously they are new unopened.

I have a W203 and I have a fuse in my boot that keeps blowing also, As soon as I put a fuse in and it touches it blows. The Central locking plays up and doesn't work form a distance or in the sun etc. and I think that this may be the cause.

I too need to seek out an auto electricion.

Any ideas. My fuse is the No 8 in the boot.

I've just purchased 2 sims from ebay - vodaphone and t-mobile, lets hope I can get one of them to work...
