Future classics - anyone kicking themselves already?

Any car that can be instantly recognised for what it is - not many of those about now - but in this jelly mould age at a guess I would say Audi TT old model / Beetle new model (especially rag tops) / Mini Cooper s and rag tops) / air cooled 911 all iconic all uniquely styled and reasonably decent cars to start with and more importantly to live with . Buy the best model in the range with the most complete dealer history and sit back. Even allowing for the hairdresser factor they will be worth having in 10 years time.

I'd be very very tempted with a Maserati one day. I love the Bora and its still reasonable at £25k. I'm not looking for an out-and-out investment, just a bit of fun really with a view to keeping it for the long term, although I have nowhere near £25k to spend yet!!!

I don't want to do what my Dad did and almost buy an original AC Cobra 30 years ago when they were a few grand only to find the are worth a fortune now!!! Then again, he spent his money on a house instead - £27 for a 4 bed house in Essex 30 years ago and sold it a while back for close to £700k!!!

BMW 2002 Tii - Several of them. One with factory fitted leather and steel sunroof !

The build quality is shocking though on all Smarts. Future classic? Not sure.

Smart Roadster, esp the Brabus version. 2 seater sports car 700cc turbo engine & 50 + mpg.....

Practical Classics already think it too...

WOTS the date today ?? No it's not April 1st............:D

A mate used to have a Mk1 escort RS2000, it was fully restored and in very very nice condition. He sold it probably 10 years ago for under £3k. They're fetching silly money now. I keep reminding him of that too... :D

I have a 1275GT Mini Clubman...which at this stage doesnt seem to be depreciating, it needs a bit of work here and there but nothing major. Plan on holding onto it forever ;) so will see how that goes!

Also have a VW T25 Devon Campervan which again providing you keep it well maintained doesnt seem to lose money. I reckon another 10years or so and they'll increase in value.

As for what id buy, a mint M635CSI.

Cheers,
C
