Hello

Any one used or recommend these? Reason I ask if for our track car and when we change settings we could see if this has any actual effect?

Thanks

Yes. Grav and I have used them loads. If you do a search you'll find several long discussions. Basically they are quite useful especially as a device for comparing changes.

Hello

What do you guys use? any particular model etc worth going for?

I understand they plug into 12v lighter? are they anything like accurate?

thanks

are they anything like accurate?

Nope

But they can be a good comparison tool, Take any so called performance figures with a massive pinch of salt.
However used to find out if any mods/changes have made a difference then they can perform a usefull function

I had a (borrowed) Gtech in my CRX at Santa Pod for the day and it took about 8-10 runs to "dial in" the Gtech by adding/subracting weight until it was reasonably accurate over 1/4 mile.

As a comparison tool its fine - just don't trust any figures from it

Ah, I have one of these somewhere. I haven't tried it on my Merc though.

I think it was fairly accurate. My old Evo VII was tuned to 350bhp, I managed 4.9sec 0-60 and a 12.8sec quarter mile at 109mph IIRC, pretty much what you would expect at that level of tune.

I must go and dig it out. :D Is it likely I'll do any harm to the auto box trying a couple of launches?

I'm 100% in agreement with Mark.
Great for making comparisons of setups & changes but I wouldn't trust the results to be accurate.
I've had a g-tech pro for a while now & it’s great to see if a change is better or worse but that’s it.

That sounds good then

As long as we test it as is and then change settings the difference if any will still be noted?

Actual figures are not important really as it is how it works on the track, as long as this can be used to as a guide to see what we do is better or worse than thats great.

Is this the sort of thing you guys have?

Thats the one I used. I checked my measurements against a stopwatch and they were pretty close. It might not be F1 accurate but its a reasonable guide.

I have an AP22 - dug it out yesterday and my barge only managed a 18.2s qtr, 82.5mph terminal. That seemed very slow...

Now I'm really wanting to get it remapped...

hehehe out £999 car (see challenge thread did a 15.8)

No idea if thats good or bad in the real world :)

Would like to try it on the ML that would be funny

Before you get it mapped check out the actual power now and the MAF sensor. That does sound slow.
What was the 0-62 time?

I wouldn't be surprised if your MAF was dying.

No point mapping if the engine isn't producing the full rate of ponies anyway.

Didn't look at the 0-62 time, was just showing a mate how the AP22 worked - if I'm near a suitable test track tomorrow I'll give it a few runs.

Car has done 87k miles and not had a replacement MAF AFAIK, but I don't think it's down on power...

Give it a clean with Isopropanol, you might be surprised.

Can you meter it on pin5 before and after, it would be interesting to see if there is any change.

Something to do on Sunday? Car maintenance is something I don't do beyond changing lamps and checking fluid and pressure levels!
