Just saw a grey G55 AMG on sale - LHD at mercedes colindale..

£99,999 AS APPROVED USED??


Damn this is high...

apparently, it was a cancelled order, but can not be put on the road here as it does not meet emmisions standards for UK etc etc.. but what a lovely colour combo.

Sounds unusual. I don't doubt the info but surely there's plenty of high-polluting cars here that can still be registered.

What about kit cars that go on new-type plates, imports etc? I thought they just taxed them to the hilt!

It was destined for Lagos... hence it was not a UK car.. but i would presume being so new, it would have met all current standards..

I wonder how ancient they actually are in things like chassis design - have Mercedes updated them over the centuries of production??

Would it compete with say, a Range Rover Sport on the road for ride, handling, refinement etc?

We can buy vehicles (Land Cruisers etc.) in various specs, not all of which can be UK/EU registered. For example, the ubiquitous white UN Land Cruiser is available in a number of different configurations. They're not fussy about emissions in Africa..

I'm surprised to see that G55 for sale over here though. I would have thought a dealership in the Emirates would have been a better place to try and punt it on?

Maybe they thought it was too subtle to sell over there. Cover it in Swarovski crystals and it might shift..

ah.. if only.. rumor has it, that this is going to be over soon in RHD and fully legal..

Cant be a bad thing.. Finally One car in the showroom that oozes timeless class and quality (after my heritage grilled w124 ofcourse lol)
