It appears to be a US import.
The positive of this would mean it's got an MPH speedo.
However you also inherit those gaudy chrome light protectors, the stupid orange side markers, as well as warning stickers all over the car. Not to mention the temperature guages will be in Fahrenheit.
Other than it's a great car, and I love those Kompressor G55's so much!
Also, Marcos Fothergill weren't great on customer service, in my parent's experience. My E320 Coupe came from there. When my parents arrived to collect it on a pre-arranged Sunday, they were met with some chap who basically gave them the keys and left as soon as possible. Apparently the salesman wasn't interested at all. I guess that's what you get for buying a cheap old Merc when they have Porsches and Lamborghinis and the such sitting in the showroom
I think thats missing the point with the G55, Great engine? Yes. Exclusive? Yes....
But to say its dated & been overtaken by others is abit unfair. Its those square looks that appeal so much today & help make it uber cool.
Its looks have subtly changed over the years, rather like a 911 (Only an idiot like clakson would complain about the 911's evolution). So why fix something that ain't broke?
As MB have been making it for so long now, its the one Merc thats being made today that still put together like a 'proper' Merc. Its built to quality & escaped the cost cutting that all Mercs now suffer from.
And in terms of sheer presence, no X5, X6, Q7, Range Rover Sport or Range Rover for that matter can even come close.
