Hello all. Currently I am going through a process of changing the access to my garage so that I can hopefully accommodate a CLS 350 2009/2010.
Could anyone advise of the width of the Grand Edition, with mirrors folded, does anyone have a tight garage in which case is it as narrow as mine (2100 entrance, 2420 max width inside) and can the car be driven in such a way that the mirrors can stay folded entering and whilst locked in the garage,,, or would they pop out and thus cause damage to themselves on the walls?
I thank you in anticipation of your comments.

Look on Parkers, Honest John ,Autotrader etc, they all usually list dimensions.

Autofold is usually a switchable option so you could set it to manual and use the switch to fold / unfold as required.

The auto fold info is helpful thanks. As yiu have understood, I would like to drive in and out with mirrors folded.
Ref the width,,,, I have had no luck on the usual sites but thanks anyway.

If you have to drive in with the mirrors folded you won't be able to open the door wide enough to get out unless you garage door frame is much narrower than the walls.

You'll get the CLS into the garage but how are you going to get out of the car ??? 2420 - 1873 = 547 allow 100mm on the left and you've got 447 mm on the drivers side, doors must be about 150mm so you're lsft with about a 300mm opening , weightwatchers here you come.

If it goes through the door, you'll have to push it in and out because, as said above, you'll have no room to get out of the car.

I'm glad I was not only one wondering about this.

I push one of the Imp's in and out as I've a cupboard at the driver's door side.

Thanks. Current Audi is 1937 across mirrors,,,, 350 is 2107 but the 350 will fold in a bit and give a width between 1873 & 2107. I Al taking garage door off and moving front panels out do I will drive into the 2420 width. Without mirrors folded and leaving 100mm on the left I should have 213 so, more when folded.

As previous, you'll get the car in but how do you get out ? You'll have 213 or so,as you say, but that's at the back edge of the car door. You'll have zero at the front of the door , at the hinge, so you'll only have 107mm of an opening to get you're leg in or out when getting in/out the car.
Can you park the Audi in the garage ?

The Audi goes in fine. I am slim and at a guess the door opens 300mm to the wall. Looking at the figures I should be okay as the poss mid dimension of 350 when mirrors folded (still haven't got that size) is only 53mm wider than the Audi with mirrors out but I am modifying garage so I drive into that wider size.

They are chunky thick doors on the CLS and the curve toward the vertical centre of the door means quite a bit of width is required to open.

Can you fit a pedestrian door on the drivers side to open the drivers door into

Good idea but not possible. I will have to trust my maths. But,,,, does no one else garage their CLS?

I can't help with the problem but it did remind me of something. Next time you see a 190e notice that the near side door mirror is quite a bit narrower than the off side. It certainly helped getting the car into the garage. I wonder if that was also done with other models of that era.

I'm pretty certain W124s had wing mirrors that were not the same size as well.

Local authority building control in UK wouldn't let you do that, no step up from the garage. :):):)
