I'm trying to purchase two new gas struts for my 2008 e320 estate.
I assume it is a w211 because I've always known it as a w211.
But, when I try to buy said struts, all I can find is ones for an S211.
Would they be the right ones ? Have I been calling it a w211 by mistake ?

It's an S211, which means it's a station wagon.

a W211 is the saloon version.

(Don't worry, we've all been there....)

Amazon is usually a good source of new struts

Just had mine done by the main dealer

A2119801964 Pneumatic spring - £128 from Mercedes

Different part number each side - mine is a 2008 e280 estate. It doesn’t have the electric tailgate.

This thread may be useful to you:

£30 or so each from strutsdepot - I've fitted some to my SL as per this video. Very simple to do, takes 10mins. Already a thread here:

Standard gas struts are normally really quick & easy to replace, in which case cheap ones may well be worth a punt.

I paid £14.99 delivered on eBay for a pair to fit our Vito - that was nearly 2 years ago and they've been absolutely fine. Literally a 5 minute job to fit ... most of which was looking for a bit of timber long enough to hold the (big & heavy) tailgate fully open :)

These are the ones I got ... now £15.99:

They didn't work for my SL, so if any SL owner without a factory spoiler want a pair cheap......
Let me know
