In anticipation of seeing Rashman and a few others with beautifully presented motors at the weekend, I had a sudden panic to give the old waqon a clean yesterday. It was in a bit of a state from my various fishing trips and covered in dust from our neighbours building works (no garage unfortunately)

Came up nice for an everyday car, but is it just me, it takes me bloody ages. Maybe I am doing something wrong:dk:

Started with a VP citrus pre-wash spray and left to soak for a bit.
Pressure wash off.
Onto the wheels with britemax iron max.
Full clean of the wheels using 2 bucket method with sonax red summer shampoo and wheel woolies (wheel woolies are great btw).
Full car wash using 2 bucket method with sonax red summer shampoo.
Pressure wash off.
Light spray over with britemax spray and shine detail spray as drying aid.
Dry with purple monster microfibre towel.
Finally gave the outer lips of my wheel a bit of a light polish.

I reckon it took about 4 1/2 hrs and I was knackered:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

looking great Simon :thumb:

My car is covered in Dust, it has now taken a shade of brown, not black!

Looks awesome, Simon!
Really cleans up beautifully!

Picked a nice environment for pictures too.. lots of lights

As for me bringing a well presented car tomorrow.. hmm.. really not sure what's going to happen there. Weather is highly unpredictable and it may leave me with no choice but to grab a lift up.

I'll see what happens.

Simon,

I know you have your reservations about your wheels, and they are admittedly not the kind of wheels I usually go for, but gotta admit, they do look great.

Especially clean! :D

Mine is covered in a fine film of dust already Don:doh:

The builders opposite have decided to do a clean up so dust clouds everywhere, still it looks better than it did yesterday morning:thumb:

Gotta say that I am not a fan of after market alloys but those look really really good.

I know what you mean regarding aftermarket wheels. They need careful consideration and I spent a long time searching and deciding what to do. BBS LM's have always been a favourite so I bit the bullet on a second hand set and refurbished them myself. They turned into a labour of love!

I have kept my AMG wheels as my winter set.

I keep checking the forecast Rash and it looks as though it is going to be OK, with no rain. Certainly a lot better than they were predicting earlier this week.

I love those wheels but they just don't look right on a W211 to me, but I can see how you've been attracted to them...

Whenever I give my motors a good clean, I can sometimes spend six hours on them so four and a half hours isn't bad.

Great looking job.

They do look great, they are a sod to clean though. They are busier than I normally like, but just look right:D

Haha - Funny I just posted that they look right and you have said the opposite:D

It's all such a personal thing.

I actually think I probably spent over 5hrs, but you have made me feel a bit better about it now.

That's actually what I'm seeing.

I still need to finish my recon and run a few more calculations but it's certainly looking alittle better...

Great job. It's worth the time and effort. Hopefully no showers straight away!!!

Wheels are a very personal thing. If you're into your car wheels seem to make the biggest impact. Some may love them, some not really notice and some may um and ahhhh ..... Each to their own. Personally I like them and they give the car a great stance.

The wheels would look a lot better on my Mk 1 Golf, let me do you a favour and take them off your hands. :D

Mind you, the 15's I have on at the minute look big, yours would look hilarious!

Simon,

I think we should swap the wheels, everyone is right in saying that they don't suite your car, but they would suite mine nicely :P

You can have my easy to clean wheels :D :thumb:

It's absolutely p*ssing it down at the moment, so it doesn't look so good now:mad:

Been raining here since 5pm and there is no chance of cleaning the car for MSL tomorrow:doh: Oh well.
Supposed to be fine tomorrow though.

Here too :wallbash:

Looking forward to tomorrow thou, It'll be good to meet some 'faces' and see the MSL facilities.

Matt
