Along with thousands of others, my youngest son got his GCSE results today.

I thought some might enjoy his art work, for which he got an A*.
Each picture is 600mm x 400mm and created when he was 14 to 16.

His portfolio was shown at the Birmingham City University 2014 Gifted And Talented Exhibition in June this year :thumb:.

They are shown in the order he did them and I think he matures as he gets that bit older (for example, note how the Subaru is a bit "heavy" in the first one).

His final exam piece on the industrial revolution hasn't been released by the school yet.

A motoring collage:

His main theme of war based projects:

His mock exam piece - an original idea (self portrait), completed over 10 hours

His collage interpretation of war based photos and paintings.
Clockwise:
An etching of Saving Private Ryan
Tiananmen Square
Lee Teter's "Reflections"
The Blitz
Warhorse
Iraq

And my favourite is his interpretation of Lee Teter's "Reflections" - a Vietnam War observation:

Thanks for looking...

Thank you for sharing.

A clear talent and a deep, thoughtful and compassionate mind behind those later works.

He should feel very proud of his achievement as I am sure you and the family rightly do

Well done little John!

Now get him to do one of the E63 :)

Proud Dad.....so interesting to see the progression, what is he wanting to do now, career wise?

Those are awesome pics , both you & he should be very proud & we should feel privelidged that we have seen them , hope he continues to pursue his art :thumb:

I was quite well known at school for my artistic talent too John:

If your lad needs a few pointers, give me a shout. :thumb:

Just found this :D - at work on the kitchen table - that's the Private Ryan scratchboard he's creating...

A talented lad you have there John. You have every reason to feel very proud of him.

Very good pieces.

Not detracting from the others but I think the last two (Collages and Reflections) are particularly good.

Very interesting . Shows a great imagination and talent

Worthy of A*, for sure. Well done him :thumb:

Your pot plant on the windowsill though... D minus ;)

Wow, sometimes an A* just isn't enough.
Serious talent. Keep nurturing.

My little sister got her results today, but unfortunately no art for her.

Some very imaginative pieces there, excellent work, keep at it, even if not as a career.

Beautiful, creative with immense attention to detail.

You should be very proud of your son, an I am sure - you are :)

John, you must be very proud, and so you should be. This is great artwork and an easy A*, my son got the same last year and I know how much time and patience it takes to produce such great work. Many congrats to your young man!
