Hi, I've joined here as the site was recommended by a friend.

Trying to decide between a W123 or W124 300E. Had considered an earlier 280E Compact, but good ones are hard to find.

I'm looking forward to knowing more about the models which have my interest and broadening my base knowledge of the marque.

I do my own mechanical work and have done for years. Currently have a couple of Citroens, an old D series Safari from the '70s and a project D known as FrankenD.

Anyway, as a first post, thanks for having a great forum, lurking I will be for a while. Before anyone asks, my name's not Jack and I've never been to Africa. But that's only part of the story.

cheers
richard

Welcome to the forum Richard, it's a little quiet round here at this time of night. Or rather day at your end.:thumb:

Bot model variants are good cars, but I would err towards a W123 as they just that bit more special and do seem to be very simple and robust, apart from rust.

I'm sure I've seen pictures of your FrankenD somewhere. A safari is a rare car now.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking high and low at whatever I can on the internet, my location and scarcity of cars near me, mean the internet is my major search source.

cheers
