Dear All,

May I Request help as my GLC sometimes goes into manual mode by itself and gets stuck in M1 until i stop the car and restart again then it goes back into D - auto mode. Is there someone who saw this problem ? Can you please share solution. Thanks

It has only 12000 miles and it happened twice in 2 weeks. I am worried if it happens on motorway at 70 mph it could be disasterous so please help.

1. Is the car still under manufacturer's warranty? If so take it to the dealer.

2. If not, was it purchased second hand less than 12 months ago? If so take it to the dealer.

3. Get the fault codes read. If the car is in 'limp' mode there may be fault codes stored.

4. If no fault codes are showing, ask the dealer to update the software on the ECU and TCU.

(Normally I would ask when the transmission was last serviced, but by the sound of it it's a neweesh car with low mileage)

Dear Markjay,

Appreciate your reply.

1. It was bought brand new and still under warranty.

2. There is no fault code on display. After turning off the engine and restart it works fine for few days then again shows same problem.

I will ask dealer for ECU and TCU software update. Will they do it on my request ? Will they charge ?
Thanks

By the way, how do we do Gearbox Reset process in this model ? Can i try myself. Please guide. Thanks

you would be best off just taking it straight to dealer. Let them sort it out for you :)

I took it to Mercedes workshop and after full day of testing and diagnostics they could not find anything so i am puzzled whether it is safe to drive like this ?

The software itself is free, the charge is only for the labour involved in applying the update. MB Brooklands charge me half-hour labour (~£60) for software updates. This is done via the dealer's STAR diagnostic computer.

If the car is under warranty, and there's an issue that might be resolved by a software update (or at least where a software update is the first step in dealing with an issue), then the dealer will in most cases carry-out the update for free. But in order to get the software update for free, you need to explain to the dealer that you are asking for the update as a possible resolution to an existing problem.

Said that, checking for newer software and updating as necessary is just part of standard procedure, not a guaranteed resolution, i.e. there may not be a newer version, or the update might not actually resolve the issue.

Does the car suddenly downshift while travelling along, or does it only happen after you’ve come to a halt and you notice it when you pull away again and it doesn’t upshift?

I was going took same as st13phil. If you pull / press one of the gear paddles/buttons when stationary, I seem to recall that puts it into Manual mode and into Gear 1. !! So it could be a failing button, or it could be you accidentally pulling the paddle!

Otherwise, a visit to the dealer !

In addition (this was certainly the case with my E63), if you’ve selected Manual mode while travelling along, if you then bring the car to a halt, the control logic for the gearbox will downshift as you slow to avoid the engine stalling, eventually selecting 1st when you stop. You then pull away again and rapidly hit the rev-limiter

Don’t ask me how I know... ;)

When it sticks in 1st gear, have you tried pulling and holding one of the paddles? This should flick it back into auto mode. You should be able to replicate this driving along in sport mode, it will hold the gear for a time in manual before up shifting and switching back to auto.

Does it shift up when you pull the paddle when this happens? You have to back off the throttle for it to shift in non AMG/MCT transmission cars.

there!

I have a MB B200 Cdi 2013 and i wanted to know if any body know what it may cause the wired noise. When i put in to gear it start trembling and a bit of shaking i think i comes from the clutch. its wired because it drive very smoothly and gears are perfect it only does it when fore example stop in to traffic light.

Ps: 7-SPEED AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION
