Gear Selector light ?

Hi Guys first post, so be gentle. This site is quite confusing
Anyway, I just bought a mint 2005 CLK 220 Coupe. And I'm in love :bannana:
Noticed the light near the auto shifter isn't working to show me what gear is selected. I've taken it apart, and can see the LED bulbs, but no joy with the lights ? The button above the lights to switch between Sport & Comfort mode works, so there is power getting to it. Can anyone point me in the right direction, kind Regards, Mike.

Sorry guys, got it wrong lol. I thought the light was meant to light up the gear you were actually in..... But last night, I realised that the light was just to illuminate the whole panel. And the gear im in is displayed in the speedo display haha. Once again I apologize for my newbie error, regards, Mike.
